Clean eating is a concept I was introduced to several years ago from Tosca Reno’s “Clean Eating Diet” book. At first it sounded hippy-dippy, but once I learned about the core tenants, I discovered it was the type of non-diet “diet” I was needing. So what is clean eating? Here are a few of it’s concepts:
Eat 5 to 6 times a day
Drink 2 liters a day
Look for labels that have short ingredients
Avoid processed and refined foods
Choose humanly raised, organic and as close to the source as possible
I know you might be thinking eating clean sounds like to much work. But I have found that by using fewer with ingredients cooking is actually easier and less time consuming. No complicated cooking procedures or laundry lists of ingredients a la Martha Stewart. Just real food.
Using food that is closer to the source is less expensive as well. Organics are preferred, but if you grow a garden you can’t get much closer to the source then that plus it’s cheaper!. Think you might like to give clean eating a try? Now is the time. I will be introducing my first ever, completely free, 5-day challenge. The Eating Cheap, Easy and Clean Challenge will be full of tips, recipes and suggestions to get you started on your way to a healthy, more balance way of eating.
